I know we’ve all been there. A time when we felt like there was really no light at the end of the tunnel. Allow yourself to be scared, worried and down but dont allow yourself to live there. These seasons are temporary. I bear witness to that. What’s important is to grow in all we go through. I’m going to share two excerpts from poems I wrote when I felt helpless.
The first one was a cry to God. I was at wits end and needed to do a little shouting:
God
She feels like your stepdaughter.
She scrubs the floors of your castle of dreams.
Watches her stepsisters go the ball of their destinies.
A night in sheltered by her pain.
There is no fairy in this story
No horse and carriage to drive her faraway.
Barefoot. You cannot wear broken glass slippers.
Poem 2:
I know a darkness that grows on the walls of minds, creeping up like a vine.
Hope’s brain tumor,
Eating at the reserve of sanity,
Dragging men to the gates of an asylum.
I know a darkness that has no manners.
Breaks down the walls we build to protect ourselves from pain.
Comes in through the window and sneaking in through the air vents.
