Island

The week is not yet over but it’s taught me a painful lesson, one too many actually.

I have always prided myself in having amazing relationships and friendships. My support system, I’ve always felt, has been stronger than most.

But…when it came crashing down this week, life showed me a couple of things. We as humans are all carrying our own bags across our backs. Sometimes our hands are free and we help each other out. But sometimes our loads are too heavy so we let go of the extra burdens.

I was the extra burden. Dropped in the sand and shocked at my loss of support. Sometimes our friends’ loads are too heavy and other times they choose to carry other bags of burden that are not our own.

I realised the limited capacity of man to keep me above the water. I must trust in he who walked upon it. He will never leave me weary.

Humans are just structures and buildings don’t come with warranties.

So don’t hide your secrets in the crooks of their fortresses.

The walls have ears and they’ll whisper them back to your wounds.

Don’t place upon the human mind the burden of your souls,

Their crosses are heavy and your load is a tree that they cannot bear.
